Join us! Our annual General Meeting took place on March 7, 2019. We are always recruiting new members, it’s not too late... $20 and we’ll get you a brand new t-shirt!

Many exciting decisions were made at the Annual General Meeting, including the idea to have a quarterly newsletter put out to all members (here is number one!!) we will outline all of the projects we have in the works to keep all members up to date on the hard work our board members put in. All members of the Friends of Lamont Firefighters Society, will have access to some great opportunities in this coming year. We will be brainstorming for some beneficial courses to put on… if you have any ideas for courses/seminars or if you are interested in joining please contact Kylee!!

Fundraising- We have had a busy winter organizing our collaborative event with the Parks Beautification Committee “Colors of Spring: Fashion and Flowers”. The event will take place on April 14, 2019 at 1:00PM. Tickets are $25.00 we will have a silent and live auction, door prizes and a light lunch. As well as a presentation from Thiels Greenhouse and a fashion show from Bellissima out of Camrose. As with any event we always need volunteers, please consider joining and helping out. If you are interested in attending or volunteering for the event contact Linda Sieker!

As the year progresses we will be looking for more volunteers for our annual “Heroes in the Sky” event (We have exciting news!!!) and some other events throughout the summer. Remember: the money that we fundraise goes towards the Lamont Fire Department… Is there a course you want to take that is not funded by the county? A team building event you would like to try? A course or seminar that might be beneficial for the community of Lamont? Ask about your options- not only through Lamont County, but also through the Friends of Lamont Firefighters Society.

Fitness Fridays- “Being fit for duty is the most basic requirement for every firefighter—both career and volunteer.” —Dan Kerrigan. 70 percent of the fire service is overweight. If you have been in the fire service for any amount of time, you already know that more than 50 percent of line-of-duty deaths are caused by cardiovascular events—primarily heart attacks. Our individual fitness levels affect our performance and our health. Our performance directly impacts fellow firefighters, the citizens we serve, and everyone’s fireground safety. Our quality of health impacts our quality of life at home, it impacts our family, and it impacts the quality and longevity of our life.

What a great idea!! The newest perk of becoming a member is our Fitness Fridays. Andrew and Kylee have been hard at work creating a fitness program that focuses on specific firefighter needs. Beginning April 5th at 7:00PM FREE for society members ($2 or a food bank donation for non members) at the Lamont Fire hall. No equipment or previous experience needed, just bring workout clothes! Contact Andy or Kylee if you want more information! All members of the community are invited. As the old fire service adage goes, you can never train too much for a job that can kill you.

Awards Night- The Lamont Fire Department awards night is set to take place on April 27, 2019 at 5:00PM at the CE Centre in Lamont. Please notify Scott Calder by April 1,2019 if you are interested in attending and how many family members you plan to bring. Dinner and refreshments will be provided.
